Panasonic Canada Inc. has recalled its Flashxpress Toaster Oven, Model No. NB-G205S, after discovering the power cord insulation may not be properly protected, creating an electrical shock hazard for consumers. The recall was issued jointly with Health Canada and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

What Products Are Being Recalled?

The recall involves the Panasonic Flashxpress Toaster Oven with model numbers NB-G205S (Canadian model) and NB-G200SVA (US model). These ovens feature a stainless steel trim and use double infrared heat technology to cook food. The model number is printed on the product label on the back of the unit. Approximately 2,184 units were sold in Canada and about 11,500 in the United States between November 2025 and March 2026. The ovens were manufactured in China by Panasonic Manufacturing (Xiamen) Co., Ltd.

Why Was This Recall Issued?

The recall was issued because the power cord insulation may be insufficient, as a protective fiberglass sleeve does not adequately cover it. This defect poses an electrical shock hazard to consumers who use the toaster oven. As of June 15, 2026, no incidents or injuries related to this issue had been reported in Canada. In the United States, the company received 5 reports of circuit breaker tripping incidents involving the US model, though no reports of shock, fire, or injury have been recorded.

Who Is Affected?

Consumers in Canada and the United States who purchased the Panasonic Flashxpress Toaster Oven, model NB-G205S or NB-G200SVA, between November 2025 and March 2026 are affected by this recall. The product can be identified by checking the model number label located on the back of the unit.
