Which Items Are Involved?

The recall applies specifically to Dunlop RigPro full safety boots in Dark Brown/Black, identified by article code LJ2HX42.CA. The affected boots carry the static-dissipative footwear (SD) CSA certification logo on the labelling. Health Canada notes that boots without this SD safety certification logo are not part of the recall, so consumers should check their footwear label before taking action.

What Went Wrong?

According to Health Canada, the boots were labelled as meeting static-dissipative safety standards when testing showed they do not actually satisfy those certification requirements. Static-dissipative footwear is designed to help control the buildup of static electricity in certain work environments, and a failure to meet that standard can leave a wearer without adequate protection from electrical hazards.

As of August 26, 2026, the manufacturer had not received any reports of incidents or injuries connected to the boots in Canada. Even so, the mislabelling was considered significant enough to trigger a national recall rather than a simple correction notice.

The recalled boots were sold across Canada between August 2024 and July 2026, giving the issue a fairly wide window of exposure for anyone who purchased safety footwear during that period. The boots are manufactured in the Netherlands by Dunlop Protective Footwear, based in Raalte, and distributed to Canadian retailers under the Dunlop brand.

Workers who rely on their boots for protection in environments where static or electrical hazards are a concern are the primary group affected. Employers who supply safety footwear to staff may also want to check whether any Dunlop RigPro boots matching the affected code are in circulation.

Health Canada is advising anyone with the affected boots to stop wearing them right away and take them back to the place of purchase for a refund. Do not continue using the boots in any setting where electrical shock protection is expected.
