Editorial Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Recall Times is committed to accuracy, independence, and transparency in everything we publish. This Editorial Policy sets out the standards and principles that govern how our team sources, verifies, writes, publishes, and corrects recall information.

We hold ourselves to these standards on every single recall notice — regardless of the manufacturer, country, or product category involved.

1. Our Editorial Mission

The mission of Recall Times is simple: to ensure that every consumer has fast, free, and reliable access to official product recall information — presented in plain language, without commercial bias or editorial distortion.

We believe that access to safety information is a public right, not a privilege. Every decision we make — from what we publish to how we write it — is guided by that belief.

2. Sources — Official Only

Recall Times publishes recall information sourced exclusively from official government recall authorities. We do not publish recalls based on:

  • Manufacturer or brand press releases alone
  • Retailer announcements or social media posts
  • Consumer complaints or unverified tip-offs
  • Media reports from other news outlets

Every recall published on this Website is traceable to an official government source. A direct link to that source is included on every recall page so readers can verify the information themselves.

Authorities we monitor include:

🇺🇸 United States — FDA, USDA FSIS, NHTSA, CPSC 🇨🇦 Canada — Health Canada, CFIA, Transport Canada 🇬🇧 United Kingdom — MHRA, OPSS, DVSA 🇦🇺 Australia — TGA, ACCC, FSANZ 🇿🇦 South Africa — SAHPRA, NRCS, DAFF

3. Verification Process

Before any recall is published on Recall Times, it goes through the following verification steps:

Step 1 — Source Confirmation The recall is confirmed to have been officially issued by the relevant government authority. We cross-reference the announcement against the authority’s official website or recall database.

Step 2 — Data Accuracy Check Key details — including the product name, brand, lot numbers, hazard description, affected countries, and required consumer action — are checked against the official source for accuracy.

Step 3 — Duplication Check We check whether the recall has already been published on Recall Times to avoid duplicate listings for the same recall event.

Step 4 — Structured Publishing The recall is published in our standardised format with all required fields: authority, country, category, severity level, hazard summary, affected products, and consumer action required.

4. Writing StandardsOur editorial team follows these writing standards on every recall notice:

Plain Language Recall notices are written in clear, everyday language. We avoid regulatory jargon and translate technical hazard descriptions into terms that any consumer can understand — without distorting the meaning or severity of the original notice.

Factual Accuracy We report only what the official source states. We do not editorially inflate the severity of a recall, speculate about causes not stated by the authority, or minimise risks that the authority has identified.

No Commercial Bias The brand, size, or advertising relationship (if any) of a manufacturer has no bearing on how — or whether — we publish their recall. All recalls are treated equally.

Severity Classification Each recall is assigned a severity level — High, Medium, or Low — based on the nature of the hazard as described by the issuing authority. This classification is editorial and is intended to help consumers prioritise their response. It is not an official government classification.

5. Headlines & Titles

Recall Times headlines are written to be clear and factually accurate. We do not use sensationalised, clickbait, or misleading headlines. A headline on Recall Times tells you what was recalled, by whom, and why — nothing more, nothing less.

6. Independence & Commercial Influence

Recall Times editorial decisions are made entirely independently of commercial considerations. Specifically:

  • We do not accept payment to publish, delay, suppress, or modify any recall notice
  • Advertisers have no influence over our editorial content
  • We do not accept sponsored recalls or paid product safety content of any kind
  • No manufacturer, retailer, or industry body has any editorial access or approval rights over our content

If a conflict of interest exists or is perceived in relation to a specific recall, it will be disclosed on the relevant page.

7. Timeliness

We aim to publish recall notices as quickly as possible after they are officially issued. Our automated monitoring systems check official authority sources continuously throughout the day.

However, we do not sacrifice accuracy for speed. If a recall notice requires additional verification before publication, we will take the time needed to confirm the details rather than publish an unverified alert.

8. Updates & Amendments

Recall information can change after initial publication. Issuing authorities may expand a recall to include additional products, revise lot numbers, update hazard descriptions, or close a recall once the issue is resolved.

When official updates are issued:

  • We update the relevant recall page on Recall Times promptly
  • A note is added to the page indicating the date and nature of the update
  • Subscribers who received the original alert may be notified of significant changes where practically possible

9. Corrections Policy

Recall Times takes accuracy seriously. If we publish information that is factually incorrect, we will correct it promptly and transparently.

How to request a correction: Contact here with the subject line “CORRECTION” and include the URL of the recall page, the specific error, and the correct information with a reference to the official source if possible.

What happens next:

  • We acknowledge all correction requests within 24 hours on business days
  • If the correction is verified, we update the page immediately
  • A correction note is added to the bottom of the affected page stating what was changed and when
  • We do not silently delete or alter published content without a correction notice

We do not remove recall notices from the Website simply because a manufacturer objects to the publication of accurate recall information.

10. What We Do Not Cover

Recall Times covers official government-issued product recalls only. We do not cover:

  • Voluntary product withdrawals that have not been confirmed as official recalls by a government authority
  • Consumer complaints about products that have not been recalled
  • Product safety opinions, reviews, or investigations that have not resulted in an official recall
  • Recalls from countries not currently in our coverage area

11. User-Submitted Tips

Members of the public may submit recall tips via our contact form. All tips are treated as unverified leads and are only published if independently confirmed through an official government source. We do not publish user-submitted content directly.

If you believe a product poses a safety risk and no recall has been issued, we encourage you to report it directly to the relevant government authority in your country.

12. Editorial Team

Recall Times is operated by a small editorial team based in Dubai, UAE. Our team is responsible for monitoring official recall sources, writing and publishing recall notices, maintaining editorial standards, and responding to corrections and reader enquiries.

We do not use artificial intelligence to autonomously publish recall content without human review. All published recall notices are reviewed by a member of our editorial team before going live.
