Health Canada has issued a mandatory recall order on October 1, 2026, covering the Valco Baby Trend Duo Double Stroller. It follows a finding by the department’s sampling and evaluation program that the strollers do not meet the Carriages and Strollers Regulations.

What Triggered the Recall
Health Canada found three separate hazards while testing the strollers against Canadian regulations.
First, the stroller may tip over during use. That creates a fall and injury risk for the children riding in it.
Second, the leg opening in front of the seat is large enough for a child’s torso to fit through. Health Canada describes this as a serious entrapment risk that could lead to injury.
Third, certain areas around the seat may expose children to shearing or pinching hazards.
As of September 25, 2026, the company had received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. Health Canada’s order is therefore preventive. It is based on the department’s own evaluation rather than on harm that has already occurred.
Who Should Be Concerned
The company reported that 314 units were sold in Canada. They were sold between August 2024 and December 2025, so some families have had the stroller for well over a year. The product was manufactured in China. Valco Baby of Australia is listed as the manufacturer.
The recall is aimed at parents and caregivers who own the Trend Duo double stroller in any of the four colours. Because this is a double stroller, two young children may be seated in it at the same time. That is why the entrapment and tip-over findings matter.
The Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits redistributing, selling or even giving away recalled products in Canada. Do not pass the stroller on to a friend or relative, and do not list it for resale.
Steps Consumers Should Take
Health Canada advises consumers to act right away.
- Check your stroller’s model number (N0048), colour and batch number (1018234-CAN).
- Stop using the stroller immediately if it matches.
- Contact Junior Brands Corp. for information on how to eliminate the hazards. The company can be reached by email at support@juniorbrands.ca or through its website at valcobaby.ca.
- Do not sell, donate or give away the stroller.
The recall notice does not describe a repair kit, refund or replacement. It tells consumers to contact the company about how the hazards will be eliminated. Ask Junior Brands Corp. directly what remedy it offers.
Until you have an answer, use another safe way to move your children. Do not keep using the stroller while you wait.
Regulatory Response
Health Canada’s notice says the strollers failed to meet the Carriages and Strollers Regulations. It names tip-over, entrapment and injury hazards as the issues. The department also reminded consumers to report any health or safety incident involving this or any other consumer product, and it points to its Consumer Product Incident Report Form for that purpose.
The recall has also been posted on the OECD Global Portal on Product Recalls website. That portal collects consumer product recalls from many countries.
