A silicone teething toy marketed for infants is being pulled from Canadian homes after Health Canada determined it poses a choking risk to the very children it was designed to soothe. The Pull & Chew Montessori Teething Toys, sold through SHEIN Canada, contain small parts that could detach and become lodged in a young child’s throat, prompting a nationwide recall announced on September 17, 2026.

The toys were manufactured by Shantou Chenghai Yibao Mengqu Toy Shop in Shantou City, Guangdong, China, and distributed in Canada by SHEIN Distribution Canada Limited, based in Markham, Ontario. According to Health Canada, the company has not received any reports of incidents or injuries linked to the product in Canada as of September 8, 2026, but the small-parts risk was serious enough to trigger the recall regardless.

Products Affected by This Recall

The recalled item is the Pull & Chew Montessori Teething Toy, a silicone chew toy intended for babies under three years old. The toys come in green, pink, yellow or blue and each features four strings in various colors, designed to be pulled and chewed as a sensory activity. They are packaged in a clear-and-white plastic pouch printed with the phrases ‘BABY PRODUCTS’ and ‘Crafted in Gentle Care.’

Consumers can identify the specific batch by checking the product SKU printed on the front of the packaging. Three SKU codes are associated with the recall: ‘sa25092843915310553’, ‘sa2404237092800828’, and ‘sa251115653050553503’. The manufacturer’s name and address, along with the product date and batch code, are also printed on the front and back of the packaging.

Why Was This Recall Issued?

The core problem is straightforward but serious: the teething toys contain small parts that can break away or detach during normal use. Because the product is intended for children under the age of three — a demographic still prone to putting objects in their mouths — any detached piece presents a genuine choking hazard. Choking incidents involving infants can escalate quickly, and small silicone or plastic pieces are especially dangerous because they can obstruct a young child’s airway with little warning.

Health Canada reports that 233 units of the affected teething toys were sold across Canada. The products were available for purchase between April 2024 and June 2026, meaning families who bought the toy at any point during that roughly two-year window may have an affected unit at home. While the total number sold is relatively small, Health Canada is urging every household with the product to check it against the recall details, since choking hazards carry outsized risk even in small quantities.

Consumers who have this product should act immediately. Health Canada’s guidance is clear and direct:
