Fire Risk Prompts Recall of Golden Resale Portable Camping Showers 2026

A camping shower that heats its own water could catch fire if the heater is not fully submerged. That is the warning behind a new recall of about 400 Portable Camping Showers sold by Golden Resale LLC of Mesa, Arizona. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says the immersion heaters in these kits can quickly ignite when they are partly or completely out of water, creating a risk of serious injury or death from fire.

If you bought a portable camping shower online this year, now is a good time to check your gear. The recall was announced on October 1, 2026 under recall number 27-013 and is part of CPSC’s Fast Track recall program.

Products Affected by This Recall

The recall covers Portable Camping Showers sold as a complete kit with a bucket and an immersion heater. Each system includes the following parts:

  • A black rechargeable electric shower pump
  • A black shower head with gold trim
  • A black hose
  • A black 5-gallon collapsible bucket
  • A 1500-watt metal immersion water heater
  • Mounting and storage accessories

You can identify the kit by a few visible markings. The ZAREI logo appears on the side of the collapsible bucket, and the word ZAREI is printed in white under the display on the shower pump. The immersion heater has distinctive heart-shaped openings in its metal housing and a black plastic endcap.

What Triggered the Recall

The problem lies in the heating element. According to the CPSC notice, the 1500-watt immersion heater can ignite quickly if it is partially or completely out of the water. That could happen if the bucket runs low, if the heater shifts or tips while it is on, or if it is left running unattended.

CPSC describes the resulting danger as a risk of serious injury or death from a fire hazard. Because the kit is designed for outdoor use, a fire could start in a tent area, a vehicle or a campsite where escape routes and firefighting resources may be limited.

The good news is that no incidents or injuries have been reported so far. The recall is precautionary, but the potential consequences are severe enough that consumers should not wait.

Who Should Be Concerned

The recalled showers were sold online only. They were available on Amazon.com and Walmart.com from February 2026 through August 2026 for about $60. The distributor is Golden Resale LLC of Mesa, Arizona, and the product was manufactured in China.

If you ordered a camping shower with a heater during those months, check your order history and look at the product itself for the ZAREI markings. Camping and outdoor gear is often bought for a trip and then stored away, so some buyers may not have opened the box yet. The recall still applies to them.

The units affected total about 400, which is a small number, but each one carries the same fire risk.

What Consumers Need to Do Now

Stop using the Portable Camping Showers immediately. Do not plug in or switch on the heater, even for a quick test. Then follow these steps to claim a refund:

  • Contact Golden Resale to start the refund. The recall notice’s remedy section lists 855-927-2440, while the consumer contact section lists 855-927-3440. If one number does not connect, try the other or email the company.
  • The refund process will be started through Amazon or Walmart’s return systems, depending on where you bought the product.
  • If you continue with the full refund process, Golden Resale will send you a free pre-paid package for returning the recalled shower to the company.
  • After the return is processed, you will receive the refund in the same form of payment you used for the original purchase.

Phone lines are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. PT on Saturday and Sunday. You can also email golden.resale0624@gmail.com.

Until your return package arrives, keep the heater unplugged and store it away from children and flammable materials. Federal law prohibits selling products subject to a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC, so do not resell or give away the kit.

From the Agency

CPSC’s notice lists the remedy as a refund and describes the hazard plainly: the heaters can ignite when not fully in water. The agency did not report any injuries or incidents with the product at the time of the announcement.

Consumers can find more safety information on CPSC.gov or call the agency’s hotline at 800-638-2772 (TTY 800-638-8270). Anyone who has experienced a problem with this or any other consumer product can report it at SaferProducts.gov.
