Tip-Over Risk Prompts SOOWERY 8-Drawer Fabric Dresser Recall 2026

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of SOOWERY 8-Drawer Fabric Dressers because the units are unstable when they are not anchored to the wall. That instability creates tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in serious injuries or death to children. The dressers also violate the mandatory safety standard for clothing storage units required under the STURDY Act.

The recall was announced on October 29, 2026, and covers about 138 units. The CPSC says no incidents or injuries have been reported so far. Even so, if you own one of these dressers, especially in a home where children live or visit, it is worth acting right away.

Recalled Products at a Glance

The recall involves the SOOWERY 8-Drawer Fabric Dresser. The dressers come in gray and black, have eight fabric drawers and are built on a metal frame. Each unit measures 47.2 inches wide, 11.8 inches long and 35.4 inches tall, and weighs 47.5 pounds.

The SKU SOO-8DD-G01 is printed on the product’s packaging. If you still have the box, check it to confirm whether your dresser is part of this recall.

What Triggered the Recall

According to the CPSC, the recalled dressers are unstable if they are not anchored to the wall. A dresser that can tip forward is a serious danger in any home with young children, because the furniture can fall on a child or trap a child beneath it. These are the tip-over and entrapment hazards named in the recall notice, and the agency warns they can lead to serious injury or death.

The dressers also violate the mandatory safety standards required by the STURDY Act, the federal rule that sets stability requirements for clothing storage units. Products that do not meet that standard cannot be treated as compliant, which is why the firm has recalled them.

Where Were These Products Sold?

The dressers were sold online at Amazon.com from December 2025 through August 2026 for about $106. The recalling firm is Shenzhen Zhongyuantong Technology Co., Ltd., doing business as SOOWERY, of China. The dressers were manufactured in China.

If you bought a fabric dresser from Amazon during that window, check your order history and compare the product description, the dimensions and the SKU on the packaging against the details above. The recall covers only about 138 units, so many buyers of similar dressers will not be affected. It is still worth confirming rather than assuming.

Steps Consumers Should Take

If you own a recalled SOOWERY dresser, the CPSC advises the following:

  • Stop using the dresser immediately if it is not anchored to the wall.
  • Place the dresser in an area that children cannot access.
  • Contact SOOWERY by email at SOOWERYrecall@outlook.com to request a full refund.
  • Write ‘RECALLED’ in permanent marker on the top, front and sides of the dresser.
  • Remove all of the drawers from the dresser.
  • Send photos of the marked and disassembled dresser to SOOWERYrecall@outlook.com.
  • Dispose of the product once these steps are complete.

Notice that the refund process asks you to disable the dresser before you throw it away. Marking and disassembling the unit helps ensure it is not passed along or reused by someone else, so it is not a step to skip.

Until the dresser is out of use, keep it away from children. Do not let a child climb on it, and do not leave it where a child can reach it unsupervised.

From the Agency

The CPSC reminds the public that federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a Commission-ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the agency. That means resale of a recalled dresser, whether online or in person, is not permitted.

Consumers can reach SOOWERY directly by email at SOOWERYrecall@outlook.com. The CPSC also encourages anyone who experiences a dangerous product or a product-related injury to report it at SaferProducts.gov. The agency’s toll-free consumer hotline is 800-638-2772 (TTY 800-638-8270), staffed from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET.

The CPSC lists this action under recall number 27-049. The full notice is available on the CPSC website for readers who want to review the original announcement.
