About 16,170 Hatsan Blitz Air Rifles Recalled Over Misfire Risk 2026

About 16,170 Hatsan Blitz and Blitz 777 air rifles have been recalled in the United States because they can fire unexpectedly if the bolt is released before the rifle is fully cocked. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says the defect poses a risk of serious injury or death from a projectile hazard.

HatsanUSA, Inc., of Bentonville, Arkansas, is the importer. The recall covers every unit of both models sold from February 2020 through March 2026. It was announced on October 15, 2026 under CPSC recall number 27-025 and is a Fast Track recall.

Quick Facts

  • Products: Hatsan Blitz and Blitz 777 pellet air rifles
  • Units: About 16,170
  • Calibers: .22, .25 and .30
  • Sold: February 2020 through March 2026, for between $800 and $1,100
  • Remedy: Free replacement trigger assembly
  • Recall number: 27-025

Products Affected by This Recall

The recall includes all Hatsan Blitz and Blitz 777 pellet shooting air rifles. Both models were sold in .22, .25 and .30 calibers.

The rifles are gas operated, select-fire (semi-auto/full-auto) pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) models. They are black and have a synthetic stock, a carbon fiber air tank mounted beneath the barrel and a rotary magazine feed.

You can identify the rifle by the markings on the receiver. The model name ‘BLITZ’ or ‘BLITZ 777’ is marked on the left side. That side also carries the Hatsan logo, a circular mark with the word ‘HATSAN’ next to a graphic of a bow and arrow. The serial number and manufacturing date are engraved on the right side of the receiver, above the bolt.

What Triggered the Recall

According to the CPSC, the recalled air rifles can fire without warning when the user releases the bolt before the rifle is fully cocked. An unintended discharge of this kind could strike the shooter or a bystander. The agency classifies the hazard as one that can cause serious injury or death.

HatsanUSA has received one report of an accidental misfire. No injuries have been reported so far.

Where Were These Products Sold?

The rifles were sold nationwide, both in store and online. Retail channels included various sporting goods stores and gun shops, the company’s own website at hatsanairgunsusa.com, and catalog sellers including Utah Airguns, Airgun Depot and Pyramyd Air.

The rifles were manufactured in Turkey. Because the recall covers all units sold during the stated period, owners should not assume their rifle is exempt based on where or when they bought it. Anyone who owns a Blitz or Blitz 777 should check the markings on the receiver.

What Consumers Need to Do Now

If you own one of these rifles, take the following steps:

  • Stop using the air rifle immediately.
  • Make sure the rifle is unloaded.
  • Contact HatsanUSA to request a free replacement trigger assembly, which will be mailed to you with instructions.
  • If you do not want to replace the trigger assembly yourself, ask HatsanUSA for a prepaid package. You can ship the rifle to the company, which will inspect it and carry out the replacement.

Handle the rifle with the same care you would any firearm-style product while you wait for the repair. Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction and keep it away from children.

From the Agency

The CPSC advises consumers to stop using the recalled air rifles immediately.
