About 11,532 Lithonia Lighting RSX Luminaires Recalled Over Fall Risk 2026

About 11,532 Lithonia Lighting RSX luminaires used for commercial outdoor lighting are being recalled in the United States because the adjustable tilt arm that holds the fixture in place can break. When the arm fails, the entire luminaire can drop from its mounting, creating a serious impact hazard for anyone standing underneath.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on October 22, 2026, under recall number 27-041. It was handled as a Fast Track recall, and the remedy is a free repair arranged by the company.

Recalled Products at a Glance

The recall covers Lithonia Lighting RSX luminaires fitted with certain adjustable tilt arm mountings. Four mounting types are included, each identified by a model prefix:

  • AASP: adjustable arm mounting for a square pole
  • AARP: adjustable arm mounting for a round pole
  • AAWB: adjustable arm mounting for a wall bracket
  • AAWSC: adjustable arm mounting for a wall bracket with surface mount conduit

The adjustable tilt arm attaches the RSX luminaire to the pole or wall and lets the fixture be angled anywhere from 0 degrees to 90 degrees above horizontal. The affected mounting arms were manufactured in two windows: August 2019 to July 2020, and August 2024 to April 2026.

Because the recall applies only to certain arms made in those periods, CPSC advises owners to contact Lithonia Lighting to confirm whether their specific luminaire and mount are included.

What Went Wrong?

According to CPSC, the knuckle of the recalled adjustable tilt arm mountings can fail. The knuckle is the pivot point that allows the fixture to be tilted. If it gives way, the luminaire can separate from the mounting arm and fall.

The firm has received 13 reports of adjustable tilt arm mountings breaking. In four of those cases the fixtures fell. No injuries have been reported so far. However, a heavy outdoor light fixture dropping from a pole or wall mount could seriously injure anyone below it, which is why the agency describes the risk as serious injury from an impact hazard.

Who Should Be Concerned

This recall is aimed mainly at businesses, property managers, facilities teams, municipalities and contractors that use commercial outdoor lighting. These fixtures are common in parking lots, building exteriors, walkways and similar open areas where people may pass beneath them.

The luminaires were sold through commercial distributors nationwide, including Turtle & Hughes Inc. and Consolidated Electrical Distributors. They were sold from August 2019 to August 2026 for between $400 and $2,200. Lithonia Lighting, based in Atlanta, Georgia, is the manufacturer. The recalled products were made in the United States and Mexico.

Anyone responsible for outdoor lighting at a commercial site should check whether RSX luminaires with these arm mountings are installed. Fixtures mounted on poles or walls near entrances, pedestrian routes or parking spaces deserve particular attention.

What Consumers Need to Do Now

CPSC’s guidance is clear and has two parts. First, keep people and vehicles clear of the area directly beneath any affected luminaire until it has been repaired. Second, contact Lithonia Lighting to schedule the free repair.

  • Identify any RSX luminaires on your property that use AASP, AARP, AAWB or AAWSC adjustable tilt arm mountings.
  • Contact Lithonia Lighting to confirm whether your fixtures are part of the recall.
  • Keep the area directly beneath the luminaire clear until the repair is complete.
  • Schedule the free repair with the company.

Lithonia Lighting will arrange for a qualified professional to replace the recalled adjustable tilt arm mount with a new, complete adjustable arm assembly. Owners should not attempt to take down or rework elevated fixtures themselves.

To reach the company, call Lithonia Lighting toll-free at 855-307-2454 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. You can also visit lithonia.acuitybrands.com and click ‘Recalls’ at the bottom of the page for more information.

Regulatory Response

CPSC lists the remedy for this recall as a repair and notes that the recall was conducted in cooperation with the firm. The agency reminds the public that federal law prohibits anyone from selling products that are subject to a Commission-ordered recall or to a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with CPSC.

Consumers and businesses who experience a problem with a recalled product, or who see another unsafe product, can report it at SaferProducts.gov or call the CPSC hotline at 800-638-2772.
