Health Canada has announced a joint recall with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and Ariston Canada Inc. covering residential gas boilers sold under the NTI and HTP brands. The recall was dated October 22, 2026 and published on October 29, 2026 under identification number RA-82796. It involves a defect that can lead to fire, carbon monoxide poisoning and impact injuries.

Consumers who own an affected boiler are being told to stop using it immediately and contact the company for a free upgrade kit.

Products Affected by This Recall

The recall covers NTI brand boilers in the FTVN and TFTN model series, and HTP brand boilers in the FTVN, TFTN and EFTU model series. The serial number is printed on the rating plate on the side panel of the boiler cabinet. Only units within specific serial number ranges are included, so owners should check the plate against the lists published by the company.

  • FTVN series: FTVN150, FTVN150C, FTVN199 and FTVN199C
  • TFTN series: TFTN150 and TFTN199
  • EFTU series: EFTU-150WBN, EFTU-150WCN, EFTU-199WBN and EFTU-199WCN

Serial numbers fall into two formats. Some begin with 21 or 22 and run 16 digits, for example 2107072138176723 to 2110052238206421 for the FTVN150. Others begin with 3260 and are longer, for example 3260054C8222970000170 to 3260054C8230380000090 for the same model. Full ranges for every model are listed on the Health Canada notice and on the company recall pages.

What Triggered the Recall

According to the notice, the condensate dish inside the boiler can crack during a delayed ignition. When that happens, unburned gas can build up inside the sealed cabinet. If that gas ignites, the front cover can detach suddenly, creating a risk of serious injury or death from fire, carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning and impact.

As of October 16, 2026, the company had received two reports of incidents and one report of injury in Canada. In the United States, it had received one report of an incident and no injuries. The company is aware of a total of 34 occurrences of the condensate dish breaking.

Where Were These Boilers Sold?

The company reported that 2,261 units were sold in Canada and 4,726 units were sold in the United States. The affected boilers were sold from May 2021 to August 2025. They were manufactured in Canada. The manufacturer is Ariston Canada Inc., formerly NTI Boilers Inc., based in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Because the recall is joint, homeowners, landlords and property managers on both sides of the border should check their equipment, particularly in basements, utility rooms and closets where a boiler may rarely be inspected.

What Consumers Need to Do Now

Health Canada says consumers should immediately stop using the recalled boilers and contact Ariston Canada Inc. The company will provide an upgrade kit and help arrange for a technician to install it, free of charge.

  • Find the rating plate on the side panel of the boiler and note the model name and serial number.
  • Compare the serial number with the ranges published for your model.
  • If your boiler is included, stop using it and contact Ariston Canada Inc.
  • If you must keep using the boiler while waiting for the repair, make sure you have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in your home.

Ariston Canada Inc. can be reached by telephone at 1-800-688-2575, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm ET. It can also be reached by email at VCexchanger@ariston.com. Information is also available at ntiboilers.com/safety-recalls and htproducts.com/safety-notice.html.

Regulatory Response

Health Canada reminded consumers that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada. That applies to resale and to secondhand transfers, so owners should not pass an affected boiler on to anyone else.

The agency also encourages consumers to report any health or safety incident involving this or any other consumer product by using its Consumer Product Incident Report Form. The recall is also posted on the OECD Global Portal on Product Recalls.
