Tip-Over Risk Prompts Recall of 9,000 FJTJBSI Six-Drawer Dressers, 2026

A tip-over hazard capable of causing serious injury or death to young children has triggered the recall of about 9,000 wood dressers sold online through Amazon. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on September 10, 2026, that FJTJBSI-branded six-drawer dressers fail to meet a federal safety standard designed specifically to prevent furniture from toppling onto children.

The dressers were imported and sold by Fujian Laobosi Cross-Border E-commerce Co., Ltd., doing business as FJTJBSI, a company based in China. According to CPSC, the furniture does not comply with the mandatory federal standard for clothing storage units established under the STURDY Act, a law created after years of child deaths linked to unanchored dressers and similar furniture tipping over.

Which Items Are Involved?

The recall covers FJTJBSI six-drawer wood dressers sold in black or white. Each unit measures about 15.1 inches long, 27.6 inches wide and 42.2 inches high, and weighs roughly 68 pounds. The dressers feature six drawers with either silver or black handles. A label on the product packaging identifies the recalled units with the model number ‘LBS-XD-4-2-BLK-023’ for the black version or ‘LBS-XD-4-2-WIT-024’ for the white version.

The dressers were sold exclusively on Amazon.com between November 2024 and July 2026, at a price of about $170. They were manufactured in China.

What Triggered the Recall

Regulators say the dressers are unstable when they are not secured to a wall. That instability creates two distinct dangers for young children: a tip-over hazard, in which the heavy furniture can fall forward onto a child, and an entrapment hazard, in which a child could become trapped beneath or behind the unit once it topples. Both scenarios carry the risk of serious injury or death, according to CPSC.

Because the dressers do not meet the performance requirements set out in the STURDY Act’s mandatory standard, they were deemed noncompliant and subject to recall regardless of whether any incidents had occurred.

Anyone who purchased an FJTJBSI six-drawer dresser through Amazon during the sales window should check their unit against the model numbers listed above. The furniture was sold nationwide online, so the recall is not limited to a specific state or region. As of the recall announcement, CPSC reported no injuries or incidents linked to the product.

Households with young children are at the greatest risk, since tip-over incidents involving clothing storage units most often affect toddlers and small kids who climb on or pull at drawers.

What Consumers Need to Do Now

Consumers should stop using the recalled dresser right away if it is not anchored to a wall. In the meantime, the furniture should be moved to a room or area that children cannot access.
