Seat Belt Lockup Prompts Vanderhall Brawley GTS ROV Recall

A seat belt that locks up fully retracted can leave you unable to buckle in once the vehicle is moving. Vanderhall North America is recalling about 190 Model Year 2024-2026 Brawley GTS electric recreational off-road vehicles over that defect, and you should stop using yours and contact an authorized dealer for a free repair.

What Products Are Being Recalled?

The Vanderhall Brawley recall, numbered 27-064 by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, covers every Model Year 2024-2026 Brawley GTS Electric ROV. CPSC says all vehicles in those model years are included.

Check the VIN to confirm. Each vehicle has a unique one under the dashboard on the driver’s side.

Why Was This Recall Issued?

The seat belts can lock permanently in the fully retracted position. Once that happens, nobody can reset the belt and put it on while the vehicle is in operation, according to the CPSC notice. The agency lists injury and crash hazards.

Vanderhall has received 11 reports of belts locking up. No injuries have been reported.

The repair is an insert. A technician fits it into the seat belt guide slot on each seat, which slows how fast the belt retracts and stops the lockup from happening.

Who Is Affected?

Anyone who owns a 2024, 2025 or 2026 Brawley GTS bought from a Vanderhall dealer. The notice names dealers in Utah, Ohio, Michigan, Texas, Montana, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Arizona.

It says nothing about second-hand buyers. Check the VIN anyway.

What Should You Do?

  • Stop using the vehicle right away.
  • Find the VIN under the dashboard on the driver’s side and compare it with the ranges above.
  • Contact an authorized Vanderhall dealer to schedule the free repair.
