Little Giant Ladders Recalled Over Rapid Lock Fall Hazard

If you own a Little Giant ladder with Rapid Locks, check it before you climb again. Little Giant Ladder Systems is recalling the ladders because the locks can fail to engage fully, and the ladder can suddenly retract, which creates a fall hazard. Stop using an affected ladder and contact the company for a repair kit.

This Little Giant ladders recall, number 27-067 in the CPSC notice, covers about 3,662,000 units. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced it on November 5, 2026.

Which Items Are Involved?

According to the notice, these models are affected, all sold under the Little Giant name:

  • Adjustable Fortress 2.0
  • Conquest 2.0
  • Dark Horse 2.0
  • Epic
  • King Kombo XT
  • Leveler
  • MegaLite
  • MegaLite+
  • Multi
  • Quantum
  • Vector

Rapid Locks are the parts that slot into the ladder rungs to set the height. They are black or orange and sit on each ladder leg. You will find the brand and model name on the side of the ladder.

One check matters most. Look at the rail above one of the Rapid Locks. A ladder with an orange rectangular ‘QC’ sticker there is not part of the recall, while a ladder without it is included.

The notice does not list UPC codes or lot numbers.

What Went Wrong?

If a Rapid Lock is not fully engaged, the ladder can retract without warning. Anyone standing on it can fall.

Little Giant has received 25 reports of ladders retracting, including 19 reports of injuries. Three involved head injuries, including traumatic brain injury and skull fracture. The other 16 covered injuries such as joint or bone fractures, lacerations and bruising. The company has also logged 39 reports of Rapid Locks not working properly.

Areas and Consumers Impacted

The ladders were sold at Lowe’s, Costco and other stores nationwide, and online at Lowes.com, Amazon.com, Costco.com, LittleGiantLadders.com and other sites. Sales ran from December 2015 through October 2026, at prices of about $100 to $1,000.

Little Giant Ladder Systems, LLC, of Springville, Utah, is listed as the importer. The ladders were made in the United States, China, Mexico and Malaysia.

How to Respond to This Recall

  • Stop using the ladder right away.
  • Check the rail above a Rapid Lock for the orange ‘QC’ sticker. If it is there, your ladder is outside the recall.
  • Read the instructions at www.littlegiantladders.com/pages/recalls, or scan the QR code on the ladder.
  • Contact Little Giant for a repair kit containing warning labels and instructions, then attach the labels to the ladder.
  • Before every use, confirm that the Rapid Locks are properly engaged, and keep them lubricated as the instructions describe.
  • If a lock still does not work properly after lubrication, contact Little Giant for an evaluation.
  • If the lock fails after that evaluation, Little Giant will let you choose a replacement ladder of the same or an equivalent model, or a refund.

Refunds run from a depreciated value based on the purchase date up to the full price for ladders bought within the past 12 months.

Questions Owners Are Asking

Is my ladder part of the recall?

It is if it is one of the listed models and has no orange ‘QC’ sticker on the rail above one of the Rapid Locks.

Can I keep using it while I wait for the kit?

No. The notice tells owners to stop using the ladder immediately, at least until they have reviewed the instructions on the company’s recall page and contacted Little Giant for a repair kit.

Can I get a refund?

Only in some cases. A refund or replacement comes into play if a lock still does not work after lubrication and the company’s evaluation. The notice does not specify how long the evaluation takes.
