Fire Death Risk Prompts Recall of Regfear BedsPick Mattresses 2026

A queen-size mattress sold online for as little as $140 has been pulled from the market after regulators found it fails to meet the federal fire-safety standard designed to keep bedroom fires from turning deadly. Regfear Ltd., a Raleigh, North Carolina-based retailer, is recalling about 818 BedsPick brand mattresses because they violate the mandatory flammability standard for mattresses, creating a risk of serious injury or death from fire.

The recall, announced September 17, 2026, and tracked under CPSC Recall Number 26-781, covers mattresses manufactured in Indonesia and sold exclusively through Amazon.com between February 2025 and May 2026.

What Products Are Being Recalled?

Two styles of BedsPick mattresses are included in this recall. Both are 12 inches thick and sold in queen size, compressed and shipped in a box. One version has a white top with purple sides, while the other has a white top with gray sides. A sewn-in white label on the side of each mattress carries a Prototype ID of either ‘AMGSW066’ or ‘AMGSW067,’ along with a model number of ‘SME004’ or ‘AMG005197_12_Q_GLT.’ Consumers who purchased a mattress in this timeframe should check the label carefully to confirm whether their unit is affected.

Why Was This Recall Issued?

The core issue is simple but serious: the mattresses do not meet the mandatory flammability standard set under the Flammable Fabrics Act. Mattresses are required to resist ignition and slow the spread of flame long enough to give occupants time to escape a fire. When a mattress fails that standard, a small flame source, such as a candle, cigarette, or electrical fault, can ignite the bedding and spread far faster than expected, potentially trapping sleeping occupants before they can react.

No incidents or injuries have been reported in connection with these mattresses so far. Still, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission classifies noncompliance with the flammability standard as a serious hazard precisely because the danger only becomes apparent once a fire starts, by which point it may be too late to intervene.

Who Is Affected?

The recall applies to consumers nationwide who bought a BedsPick mattress through Amazon.com between February 2025 and May 2026, at prices ranging from roughly $140 to $200. Because the product was sold online through a single marketplace listing rather than in physical stores, Regfear expects to be able to reach many buyers directly through Amazon purchase records, though anyone who owns one of these mattresses should act regardless of whether they receive direct notice.

What Should You Do?

Anyone with a recalled BedsPick mattress should stop using it immediately. Owners are instructed not to simply discard the mattress but to first destroy it and write ‘Recalled’ in permanent marker on the mattress’ top surface. A photo of the destroyed, marked mattress must then be emailed to Regfear at BedsPickRecall@outlook.com. Once the company receives that photo along with written confirmation of disposal, it will issue a full refund.
