The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for Curry Chicken Salad produced by Mary’s Harvest Fresh Foods, Inc. of Portland, Oregon, due to concerns the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. A formal recall was not requested because the affected product is no longer available for purchase, but consumers who have it at home are urged not to eat it.

What Products Are Being Recalled?

The alert covers 8-oz. plastic packages of ‘CURRY CHICKEN SALAD’ with a USE BY date of 07/30/2026 printed on the back label. The product was produced on July 22, 2026, and bears establishment number ‘P-39928’ inside the USDA mark of inspection. Affected packages were shipped to retail locations in Oregon and Washington.

Why Was This Recall Issued?

The issue was discovered during routine establishment testing, which raised concerns about possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes (Lm). There have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to consumption of the product to date. Anyone who suspects they have become ill after eating this product should contact a health care provider immediately.

Who Is Affected?

Consumers in Oregon and Washington who purchased the 8-oz. ‘CURRY CHICKEN SALAD’ packages with the 07/30/2026 use-by date are affected. Listeria infection poses the greatest danger to older adults, individuals with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns, though people outside these groups can less commonly be affected as well. In pregnant women, listeriosis can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery, or life-threatening infection of the newborn. Older adults and immunocompromised individuals may experience serious and sometimes fatal infections.

Official Statement

FSIS stated that consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, ‘a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns.’ The agency added that listeriosis is treated with antibiotics and urged anyone in a higher-risk category who experienced symptoms after eating the product to seek medical attention and disclose the exposure to their health care provider.
