Burn Injury Risk Prompts Recall of INMO Air3 Smart Glasses

INMO International Technology Limited has recalled about 1,643 INMO Air3 Smart Glasses sold in the United States after the left temple of the device was found to overheat during extended use, creating a burn hazard that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says can lead to serious injury or death. An additional 120 units were sold in Canada and are subject to a parallel recall action there.

The recall, announced September 24, 2026, and designated a Fast Track Recall by CPSC, covers smart glasses used for AI translation, AI-assisted productivity and media streaming. The firm has already received 10 reports of the glasses overheating, including reports of a burning sensation to the wearer’s face and the left side of the ear. No injuries beyond the burning sensation reports have been detailed in the recall notice.

Which Items Are Involved?

The recalled product is the INMO AIR3 Smart Glasses, model number AIR3. The glasses are black and carry ‘AIR3’ and ‘INMO’ printed on a label located on the right temple of the device. They were sold online at Amazon.com, Inmoxr.com and Kickstarter.com from December 2025 through August 2026, at prices ranging between $900 and $1,300.

  • Product: INMO AIR3 Smart Glasses
  • Units: About 1,643 in the U.S. (plus about 120 in Canada)
  • Recall number: 26-797
  • Sold: December 2025 to August 2026, $900 to $1,300
  • Importer: INMO International Technology Limited, of China
  • Manufactured in: China

Why Was This Recall Issued?

According to CPSC, the left temple of the recalled smart glasses can overheat during extended wear. Because the temple sits close to the wearer’s face and ear, overheating poses a burn risk that the agency classifies as capable of causing serious injury or death in a worst-case scenario. The firm’s own incident reports describe wearers feeling a burning sensation on the face and near the left ear while using the glasses, which prompted the recall action.

Who Is Affected?

Anyone who purchased the INMO Air3 Smart Glasses through Amazon.com, Inmoxr.com or Kickstarter.com between December 2025 and August 2026 is affected by this recall. Because the product was sold primarily through online marketplaces rather than brick-and-mortar retailers, the company is relying on direct outreach and public notice to reach owners of the roughly 1,643 units sold in the U.S., alongside the 120 units sold in Canada.

What the Agency Said

CPSC’s recall notice states plainly that the hazard stems from the left temple’s tendency to overheat during extended use, and that this defect ‘pos[es] a risk of serious injury or death due to burn hazard.’ The agency listed the remedy simply as ‘Repair,’ underscoring that consumers are not being asked to return or discard the product outright but rather to have it serviced and updated by the manufacturer.

The recall was coordinated with Health Canada, which issued a corresponding alert for the roughly 120 units sold north of the border. Consumers with questions beyond the repair process can also reach CPSC through its own consumer hotline or report incidents at SaferProducts.gov.
