The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on September 24, 2026, a recall of about 324 5Color children’s bike helmet and pads sets, listed under recall number 26-789. The agency says the helmets violate the mandatory federal safety standard for bicycle helmets and can fail to protect a child in a crash.

If you bought a pink 5Color helmet and pads set for your child this year, check the label inside the helmet today. The set was sold on Amazon.com, and the recall calls for stopping use right away.

Products Affected by This Recall

The recall covers 5Color-branded bicycle helmet and pads sets. Each set has a pink helmet plus knee and elbow pads. Only the size small helmets are included. They are marked S and fit a head circumference of about 18 to 22 inches. The helmets have black padding, black straps and a black fit-adjusting knob at the back.

To confirm you have a recalled set, look for the label on the inside of the helmet or on the product packaging. It carries the following details:

What Triggered the Recall

According to the CPSC, the helmets in the recalled sets do not meet several requirements of the mandatory safety standard for bicycle helmets. The failures cover five areas:

Together, these gaps mean the helmets can fail to protect the wearer in a crash. The agency describes the hazard as a serious risk of injury or death from head injury.

The CPSC says no incidents or injuries have been reported so far. The recall is a preventive step, and it does not mean a child has been hurt.

The retailer is Hengqin Guangwei Consulting Co., Ltd., doing business as 5Color, of China. The products were manufactured in China.

What Consumers Need to Do Now

Parents and caregivers should take these steps:

• Stop using the helmet immediately. Do not let a child ride while wearing it.
• Contact 5Color for a full refund of the set. Call toll free at 833-382-6461, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday. You can also email FiveColorCS@163.com.
• Destroy the recalled helmet by cutting the straps. This makes sure the helmet cannot be used again.
• Email a photo of the destroyed helmet to FiveColorCS@163.com. The company will ask for this as part of the refund process.
• Dispose of the helmet. You may keep the protection pads.

Children still need head protection while riding. Until a compliant replacement is in hand, it is safest to keep bike rides on hold rather than using the recalled helmet.
