Overheating Risk Prompts Recall of Goal Zero YETI 3000X Power Stations

A faulty circuit board that can overheat is at the center of a new recall you’ll want to check your garage or camper for. Health Canada has announced that Goal Zero YETI 3000X Power Stations are being recalled because the unit’s internal circuit board may overheat, creating a risk of fire and burns to anyone nearby.

The recall, published on September 11, 2026, covers the silver and black Goal Zero YETI 3000X portable power station. These are large units, standing about 62 centimetres (24.4 inches) tall, 47 centimetres (18.5 inches) wide and 57 centimetres (22.3 inches) deep, and weighing roughly 42 kilograms (92 pounds). They feature yellow carrying handles, a front-facing digital display with electrical ports, and sit on a rolling cart with built-in wheels and a telescoping handle. You can identify the recalled unit by the Goal Zero logo printed on the front bar of the cart, and by a nameplate on the underside of the power station’s lid marked ‘YETI 3000X’.

Which Items Are Involved?

Only the Goal Zero YETI 3000X Power Station is affected by this action. According to Health Canada, the company sold 509 units of the product in Canada, with sales running from May 2020 through August 2025. The units were manufactured by ProVista Technology International Ltd. in Kowloon, Hong Kong, and distributed by Goal Zero, based in Midvale, Utah.

What Went Wrong?

Health Canada states plainly that the recalled power station’s circuit board may overheat, posing a risk of fire and burn hazards. This is a serious concern given the size and battery capacity of the YETI 3000X, which is designed to store and output significant amounts of electrical power for home backup, off-grid living, or outdoor recreation.

As of August 31, 2026, the company had not received any reports of incidents or injuries linked to the issue in Canada. Still, Health Canada is urging owners not to wait for something to go wrong before taking action.

Anyone in Canada who purchased a Goal Zero YETI 3000X Power Station between May 2020 and August 2025 should check their unit against the description above. Given the relatively small number of units sold nationally, this is not a mass-market recall, but the fire and burn risk means every affected household should treat the notice seriously.

What Should You Do?

Consumers are told to immediately stop using the recalled power station. The fix, fortunately, does not require returning the unit. Goal Zero is offering a free firmware update through its mobile application that addresses the overheating issue. Owners who are unable to complete the update themselves can contact Goal Zero directly for assistance with installation at no cost.
