Health Canada has issued a recall for the PandaEar Portable Hook-On Chair, Model BTC-51, due to a serious fall hazard. A total of 764 units sold across Canada are affected. The crotch restraint on the chair can be removed without a tool, creating an opening through which infants can fall, posing a significant risk of injury.

What Products Are Being Recalled?

The recall covers the PandaEar Portable Hook-On Chair, Model BTC-51. This chair is designed to seat young children at a dining table, featuring a black metal frame covered with grey polyester and cotton material and an attached restraint in the occupant seating area. Two metal arms with plastic covers on top anchor the chair to a dining table, suspending the child from the table surface. The affected units were manufactured in China and sold in Canada from May 2022 to July 2023.

Why Was This Recall Issued?

The recall was issued because the crotch restraint on the portable hook-on chair can be removed without the use of a tool. This design flaw creates an opening in the seat through which infants can fall, posing a fall hazard. As of June 12, 2026, PandaEar has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada related to this product. However, given the serious risk to infant safety, Health Canada has acted to remove the product from use.

Who Is Affected?

This recall affects consumers in Canada who purchased the PandaEar Portable Hook-On Chair, Model BTC-51 between May 2022 and July 2023. The product was intended for use by families with young children and infants. Approximately 764 units were sold in Canada during this period. Families with infants or young toddlers using this hook-on chair at dining tables are particularly at risk.
