SLR Food Distribution Inc. is recalling Wise Wife Brand Ground Cinnamon across several states because it may contain elevated lead, the FDA reported on October 29, 2026. If you have a jar at home, check the label and stop using it.

This Wise Wife ground cinnamon recall is voluntary. The FDA published the company’s announcement as a public service and says it backs neither the product nor the business.

The Reason Behind the Recall

Testing by The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station found high lead levels in a sample of the cinnamon. That result started the recall.

No illnesses have been reported so far.

Small, brief doses of lead may produce no symptoms, according to the company. A higher blood lead level can be the only visible sign. Symptoms become more likely after larger doses or after exposure that goes on for a long time.

Lead can affect nearly every system in the body, and the damage depends on the dose, how long exposure lasts, and the person’s age and body weight. Children are at greatest risk. When a child is exposed for weeks to months, the nervous system can be permanently harmed, leading to learning problems, developmental defects and other lasting health issues.
