A faulty grounding wire is at the heart of a nationwide recall announced on September 17, 2026, covering roughly 10,605 Char-Broil Bistro Pro electric grills sold across the United States, with another 342 units recalled in Canada. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the grounding wire connected to the grill’s heating element can come loose, stripping away the fault protection that keeps stray current from reaching the person using the appliance.

The recall was issued under CPSC recall number 26-773 through the agency’s Fast Track program, which allows companies to move quickly on a remedy rather than waiting for a full hazard investigation. Char-Broil LLC, based in Columbus, Georgia, is the importer. The grills were manufactured in China.

The recall covers Charbroil Bistro Pro Electric Grills sold in both full-size and tabletop configurations. Model descriptions include the Bistro Pro Electric Grill & Griddle + Charcoal, the Bistro Electric Grill + Charcoal, and the Bistro Pro Tabletop Electric Grill. Color options involved are Black (black and gray), Red, Blackout (all black), and Emerald (green).

Each recalled grill carries a ‘CB’ logo plate on the front of the lid and the word ‘CHARBROIL’ printed across the front control panel. The product label carrying the model and serial number sits on the bottom shelf of full-size grills and on the side bar of tabletop models.

Date codes matter here. The serial number includes a four-digit manufacturing date code in year-and-month (YYMM) format. Only grills stamped 2510 (October 2025), 2511 (November 2025) or 2512 (December 2025) fall within the scope of this recall. Units outside those three months are not affected.

What Went Wrong

The defect is straightforward but serious. The grounding wire attached to the heating element can disconnect during use. Grounding is the safety path that carries fault current harmlessly away from the user, and once that connection fails, the appliance loses its fault protection. The result is an electric shock hazard for anyone handling the grill while it is energized.

Char-Broil and the CPSC have not reported any incidents or injuries tied to the defect so far. That absence of reported harm is part of why the recall moved through the Fast Track process, and it should not be read as a reason to keep using an affected unit.

Where Were These Grills Sold?

Distribution was broad. The grills were sold at Ace Hardware, Lowe’s, Walmart, Wayfair, QVC and other hardware stores nationwide, and online through Amazon.com, Charbroil.com, AceHardware.com, Lowes.com, Walmart.com, Wayfair.com, QVC.com and other online retailers. Sales ran from October 2025 through June 2026, at prices between $150 and $250.

That nine-month sales window means many buyers picked these grills up during the 2026 spring and early-summer grilling season. Canadian consumers are covered by a parallel recall issued in conjunction with Canadian authorities.

Steps Consumers Should Take

Stop using the recalled electric grill immediately and unplug it. Do not wait for a seasonal shutdown or the end of the grilling year.

Next, check the label on the bottom shelf (full-size models) or the side bar (tabletop models) for the model number and the four-digit date code. If the code reads 2510, 2511 or 2512 and the model number appears on the list above, the grill is included.
