WinCo Foods of Boise, Idaho, is recalling two sizes of its Salsa Bean Dip Trays, sold in eight states, after a peperoncini supplier recalled a single jar lot over potential pest inclusion. The company announced the action on October 1, 2026, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration posted the notice on October 2, 2026.

The recalled dip trays may contain peperoncini supplied by G.L. Mezzetta. WinCo says it found no evidence of pests in any product it used, and it has received no complaints of pests or illness tied to the trays.

Products Affected by This Recall

Two WinCo Foods deli-style products are included. Both are ready-made items that use peperoncini as an ingredient.

  • WinCo Foods Salsa Bean Dip Tray Express: UPC 2-67173-#####, net weight 54 oz.
  • WinCo Foods Salsa Bean Dip Tray, 16 Inch Catering Tray (by special order only): UPC 2-67240-#####, net weight 104 oz.

Only trays that may have been made with the affected peperoncini are involved. Those carry ‘Best If Used By’ dates from August 14, 2026 through September 25, 2026.

What Triggered the Recall

WinCo Foods was notified by G.L. Mezzetta that a single lot of its Golden Greek Peperoncini had been recalled over potential pest inclusion. According to the announcement, the supplier’s action followed a video from another grocery chain that was circulating on social media.

Peperoncini are an ingredient in the WinCo Foods Salsa Bean Dip Trays, so the retailer extended the action to its own products.

WinCo stated that it did not have or use any product with evidence of pests in the jar. It also said no pests were observed during production of the bean dip trays. The company launched the recall with the knowledge of the FDA, citing transparency for its customers and food safety.

Where Were These Products Sold?

The trays were distributed through WinCo Foods retail stores in Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. The 16-inch catering tray was available by special order only.

WinCo said the trays are ready-made deli-type items with a short shelf life. For that reason, the company does not expect any of the product to still be in consumers’ homes. It also said all product that may have been made using the affected peperoncini was removed from retail stores.

What Consumers Need to Do Now

Because of the short shelf life, most shoppers are unlikely to have any of the recalled trays left. Anyone who bought a WinCo Foods Salsa Bean Dip Tray in the affected states should still check the following:

  • Look at the ‘Best If Used By’ date. Trays dated between August 14, 2026 and September 25, 2026 may be affected.
  • Check the product name, size and UPC against the two items listed above.
  • If you still have an affected tray, do not eat it.
  • Contact the WinCo Foods Customer Service Desk with any questions or concerns.

The announcement does not describe a refund process. Consumers should ask WinCo customer service about their options.

What the Company Said

In its announcement, WinCo Foods said that while no pests were observed during production of the bean dip trays and there have been no complaints, it initiated the recall out of transparency for customers and with food safety in mind. The FDA notes that it posts company announcements as a public service and does not endorse either the product or the company.

Consumers with questions can reach the WinCo Foods Customer Service Desk at 1-800-824-1706, or through the Contact Us form on the WinCo Foods website. Questions about the supplier’s peperoncini can be sent to G.L. Mezzetta at CustomerSupport@Mezzetta.com.
