About 37,000 squishy toys sold by ABC Trading Inc. are being recalled across the United States because the water beads inside them swell larger than federal rules allow. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says the toys pose a deadly ingestion hazard to children. The recall covers two products: Squishy Dumpling toys (model 3655) and Crazy Squib Ball toys (model 3984).

Recalled Products at a Glance
The recall involves two squishy toy lines. Both come in multiple translucent colors and contain glitter and water beads.
The Squishy Dumpling toys, model 3655, have a cartoon face. They are packaged in a tan plastic container shaped like a bamboo steamer. ‘SQUISHY DUMPLING’ is printed on the front of the removable package labeling. The toy itself carries no markings other than the cartoon face, so the packaging is the main way to identify it.

The Crazy Squib Ball toys, model 3984, come individually wrapped in white netting. ‘CRAZY SQUIB BALL’ and ‘Squeeze it! Throw it!’ are printed on the front of the package labeling.
The Reason Behind the Recall
The toys violate the mandatory safety standard for toys. The water beads inside expand larger than the standard permits. A bead that is swallowed can swell inside a child’s body, creating ingestion, choking and intestinal obstruction hazards.
According to the CPSC, the consequences can include severe discomfort, vomiting and dehydration. The agency also warns of a risk of death to a child.
This is not the first recall of its kind. The CPSC page lists similar recent actions involving water bead dumpling and bun toys from other sellers, including LLK Trading and Toyworld168. The same hazard language appears in each notice.
Where Were These Products Sold?
The toys were sold at ABC Trading stores in Los Angeles, California, and at other stores nationwide from April 2026 through June 2026. Retail prices ranged from 41 cents to $1.25. At that price point, these toys are the kind that often end up in party favor bags, classroom prize boxes and kids’ toy bins, so it is worth checking those places too.
ABC Trading Inc., of Vernon, California, is listed as the importer. The toys were manufactured in China.
Steps Consumers Should Take
Stop using the squishy toys immediately and keep them away from children. Do not let young children play with a toy that has torn or leaked, since loose beads are the main danger.
The CPSC says consumers should then contact ABC Trading for a full refund. The company will ask you to complete these steps:
- Write ‘RECALLED’ in permanent marker on the squishy toy.
- Throw the toy away.
- Email a photo of the disposed toy to recallabc@gmail.com to receive your refund.
Anyone who suspects a child has swallowed a water bead, or is showing symptoms such as vomiting or severe discomfort, should seek medical attention right away. The CPSC notice does not give further medical guidance, so a doctor or emergency service is the right contact in that situation.
Who Should Be Concerned
Parents, grandparents, caregivers, teachers and anyone who bought the toys as gifts or giveaways between April and June 2026 should check what they have. Because the toys were sold nationwide, not only in Los Angeles, consumers in any state could have them. Households with babies, toddlers and young children deserve particular attention, since the hazard involves swallowing.
Regulatory Response
The CPSC announced the recall on October 1, 2026, and classified the problem as a violation of the mandatory standard for toys. The agency reminds the public that federal law prohibits selling products subject to a recall that a company has undertaken in consultation with the CPSC. Retailers and resellers, including online and secondhand sellers, should not sell the recalled toys.
Consumers can reach ABC Trading by email at recallabc@gmail.com. To report a dangerous product or a product-related injury, they can use SaferProducts.gov or call the CPSC hotline at 800-638-2772.
