Go Raw LLC, based in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, has expanded its February 17, 2026 voluntary recall to include one additional lot of Steve’s Real Food Freeze-Dried Chicken Recipe cat and dog food. The expansion, announced on June 8, 2026, covers a 1.25 lb bag with lot code C26022 due to potentially low levels of thiamine (Vitamin B1), a nutrient critical to normal neurological and metabolic function in pets.

What Products Are Being Recalled?

  • Product: Steve’s Real Food Chicken Recipe Freeze Dried
  • Size: 1.25 lb Bag
  • Lot Code: C26022
  • UPC: 6-91730-164 02-7
  • Best By Date: 1/22/2028

The product is sold in beige, zip-locked 1.25 lb packages with a maroon stripe. The lot code C26022 and Best By Date 1/22/2028 are printed on the front of the bag. This product is freeze-dried. It was distributed through retail stores in CO, UT, WA, OR, PA, RI, MI, CA, TX, IL, GA, NC, SC, FL, MN, NY, OH, WI, ID, and MT. This expansion is in addition to previously recalled products under the February 2026 action, which included Quest Cat Food Chicken Recipe Freeze Dried Nuggets and Quest Cat Food Chicken Recipe Frozen Diet in various sizes and lot codes.

Why Was This Recall Issued?

Thiamine (Vitamin B1) is an essential water-soluble vitamin required for normal carbohydrate metabolism and neurological function in both cats and dogs. The affected lot of Steve’s Real Food Freeze-Dried Chicken Recipe may contain insufficient levels of thiamine, which could put pets at risk if fed as their primary diet over an extended period.

Go Raw LLC noted that thiamine is a sensitive nutrient and that testing results can vary significantly, even in products formulated with elevated levels. The company states it is working with the FDA and industry experts to better understand thiamine stability and testing methodologies. All current Steve’s Real Food products are now being manufactured using updated formulations that include a new Vitamin premix.

Who Is Affected?

Pet owners across the United States who purchased Steve’s Real Food Chicken Recipe Freeze Dried in a 1.25 lb bag with lot code C26022 and a Best By Date of 1/22/2028 are affected. The product was sold at retail stores across 20 states. Go Raw LLC has confirmed through its investigation that the affected lot is no longer present in distribution channels, but the voluntary recall was initiated out of an abundance of caution.

Cats are considered especially susceptible to thiamine deficiency due to their higher dietary requirement for the vitamin and limited capacity to compensate for inadequate intake. Dog owners should also be vigilant.

What Should You Do?

  • Stop feeding the recalled product to your pets immediately.
  • Check the lot code and Best By Date on the front of the bag to confirm if your product is affected.
  • Return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund or a replacement.
  • Monitor your pet for any concerning clinical signs such as decreased appetite, vomiting, weight loss, wobbly walking, or neurological symptoms.
  • Contact your veterinarian promptly if your pet shows any signs of illness. When recognized early, thiamine deficiency is generally reversible with supplementation and supportive care.
  • For questions, contact Go Raw LLC at cs@gorawllc.com or call 801-432-7478, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM MST.
