Nearly 4,000 AGA Rangemaster Dual Fuel Ranges Recalled Over Fire, Explosion Risk

A missing cap on a small gas test port is enough to turn a high-end kitchen range into a fire or explosion hazard. That is the risk behind a new recall affecting nearly 4,000 dual fuel ranges sold under the AGA and La Cornue brands, according to a notice issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on September 10, 2026.

The recall covers AGA Elise and Mercury Series Freestanding Dual Fuel Ranges, along with La Cornue CornuFe 90 and CornuFe 110 Series Freestanding Dual Fuel Ranges. AGA Rangemaster Limited, based in the United Kingdom, manufactured the affected units between March 19, 2025 and July 24, 2026. About 3,992 units were sold in the United States, with an additional 336 sold in Canada.

Products Affected by This Recall

The recalled ranges come in 36-inch and 48-inch widths for the AGA Elise and Mercury lines, and 36-inch and 43-inch widths for the La Cornue CornuFe lines. All units feature gas surface burners configured for either Natural or LP gas, paired with one to three electric ovens depending on the model size.

Affected models include the AEL361DF, AEL481DF, AMC36DF and AMC48DF from AGA, and the LAC9 and LAC1 from La Cornue. The ranges were sold in stainless steel, white and 13 other color and trim options, and all gas types and finishes are included in the recall. The serial number needed to verify whether a specific unit is affected can be found on the rating plate, located on the bottom panel beneath the storage drawer.

What Went Wrong?

The hazard centers on the gas test port, a small component used during manufacturing and servicing. If the cap covering that port is missing, gas can leak from the range. Given that these are gas-fueled cooking appliances installed near open flame and heat sources, an undetected leak carries a serious risk of fire or explosion, potentially resulting in serious injury or death.

The CPSC has not received any reports of incidents or injuries connected to this issue as of the recall announcement. Even so, the potential severity of a gas leak in a kitchen appliance is why the agency and AGA Rangemaster moved to issue the recall as a Fast Track Recall.

Who Should Be Concerned

These are premium appliances, sold through authorized appliance dealers nationwide from March 2025 through July 2026, with price tags ranging from roughly $6,000 to $20,000. Because of that price point and distribution model, owners are likely to know exactly where and when they purchased their range, which should make checking eligibility straightforward.

Anyone who purchased an AGA Elise, AGA Mercury, La Cornue CornuFe 90 or La Cornue CornuFe 110 dual fuel range within the listed production window should check their unit, even if it appears to be functioning normally, since a missing test port cap is not something a typical user would notice during everyday use.

Steps Consumers Should Take

Consumers should shut off the gas supply to their range immediately as a precaution against a possible gas leak. The gas surface burners must not be used until the unit has been inspected. Importantly, the electric oven sections of the range can continue to be used safely, since the hazard is isolated to the gas components.

If it is, AGA Rangemaster will arrange a free inspection and repair performed by a certified technician.
