Shock and Electrocution Risk Sparks Recall of Steelite Pressure Washers

A missing safety feature on a compact electric pressure washer has triggered a recall after regulators determined the product could expose users to a life-threatening shock hazard. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on August 27, 2026 that about 128 Steelite Electric Pressure Washers are being pulled back after it was found the units lack a built-in ground-fault circuit-interrupter (GFCI) and do not have an adequately long power cord.

Without a GFCI, an electrical fault in the pressure washer could go undetected, creating a real risk of serious injury or death from shock and electrocution. Because pressure washers are used outdoors and often around standing water, the danger is heightened further — water and unprotected electrical components are a dangerous combination.

What Products Are Being Recalled?

The recall covers Steelite-branded electric pressure washers finished in red and black. Each unit measures about 30 inches high, 10 inches wide and 12 inches deep. The machines are rated at 2.5 gallons per minute and come equipped with a foam cannon, four quick-connect nozzles and a 20-foot hose. The model number ‘AZ6041VC’ appears on a label affixed to the back of the unit.

These pressure washers were sold exclusively online at Amazon.com between April 2026 and June 2026, with prices ranging from $45 to $92.

Why Was This Recall Issued?

The core issue is electrical safety. Pressure washers, by design, are meant to be used with water in outdoor settings, which makes GFCI protection essential. The absence of an integral GFCI, paired with a power cord that CPSC says is not an adequate length, increases the likelihood that consumers could be exposed to electric shock while operating the machine. No injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with the recalled units so far, but the potential severity of the hazard — shock and electrocution — is what prompted the recall action.

Who Is Affected?

Consumers who purchased a Steelite Electric Pressure Washer through Amazon.com during the April-to-June 2026 window are affected. The products were imported by Longer Technology (Hong Kong) Limited, doing business as Longer 3D, based in China, and were manufactured in China as well. Given the sale channel was Amazon only, affected consumers are located throughout the United States rather than in a specific region.

Official Statement

According to the CPSC recall notice, ‘the recalled pressure washers lack an integral ground-fault circuit-interrupter (GFCI) and an adequate-length power cord, posing a risk of serious injury or death from shock and electrocution hazards.’ The agency listed the remedy as a refund and assigned the case recall number 26-723.

This recall follows a string of similar actions this year involving other pressure washer brands sold through online marketplaces, including products from YERYORK, Workbless, SUGIFT and COMMOWNER, all cited for the same missing-GFCI defect. Consumers are encouraged to check any recently purchased electric pressure washer for proper GFCI protection before use, particularly units bought through third-party online sellers.
