About 4,200 Cupcakes and Cashmere Floor Lamps Recalled Over Fire Risk 2026

About 4,200 Cupcakes and Cashmere brand three-light floor lamps sold at HomeGoods have been recalled in the United States because the cord or internal wiring can smoke, melt, spark, overheat or catch fire. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on October 1, 2026, under recall number 27-007.

If you bought one of these lamps in the past year or so, check the model number today. Designs Direct LLC, the importer, is offering a full refund, but you will need to follow a specific destruction-and-photo process to get it.

  • Units affected: About 4,200
  • Models: 7927-OZ and 7927-OZ1
  • Sold at: HomeGoods stores, June 2025 through July 2026
  • Price: Between $79 and $89
  • Remedy: Full refund
  • Incidents: 11 reports, including two shock and burn injuries

Products Affected by This Recall

The recall covers Cupcakes and Cashmere Brand Three-Light Floor Lamps in two models. Both stand about 63 inches tall and have three six-inch diameter glass globe lampshades. They are sold in multicolor and cream variants.

Model 7927-OZ is gold with multi-colored lampshades. It is associated with HomeGoods style numbers 190734 and 211918.

Model 7927-OZ1 is gold with cream lampshades. It is associated with HomeGoods style numbers 192249, 208605 and 213058.

The model number is printed on a sticker on the underside of the lamp base. The HomeGoods style number appears on the original price hangtag, which you may no longer have, so the base sticker is the more reliable check.

What Triggered the Recall

According to the CPSC, when the lamp is plugged in or switched on, the cord or the internal wiring can smoke, melt, spark, overheat or ignite. That creates a risk of serious injury from fire and burn hazards.

The firm has received 11 reports of incidents. Two of them involved shock and burn injuries. The notice does not describe the individual incidents in further detail and does not mention any property damage or deaths.

The recall was handled through the CPSC Fast Track program, under which a company agrees to a corrective action plan with the agency shortly after reporting a potential hazard.

Who Should Be Concerned

Anyone who bought one of these lamps at a HomeGoods retail store between June 2025 and July 2026 should check it. The lamps were manufactured in Cambodia and imported by Designs Direct LLC, doing business as Designs Direct Creative Group, of Covington, Kentucky.

Because the lamps are floor models that often sit in living rooms, bedrooms and home offices, they may be left switched on for long periods. Owners who received one as a gift or moved it between rooms should also check the base sticker.

What Consumers Need to Do Now

The CPSC advises consumers to act immediately:

  • Stop using the lamp right away. Turn it off and unplug it.
  • Confirm the model. Look for 7927-OZ or 7927-OZ1 on the sticker under the base.
  • Cut the cord. Follow the instructions on the Designs Direct recall page at designsdirectllc.com/recalls.
  • Photograph the destroyed lamp. Submit the photo as proof of destruction.
  • Receive your refund. Designs Direct will issue a full refund within 15 days of receiving the photo proof.

Do not plug the lamp back in to test it, even briefly. Keep the lamp unplugged until you have completed the steps above.
