Over 3.6 Million Cuisinart Grill Brushes Recalled Over Ingestion Hazard

More than 3.6 million Cuisinart-branded grill brushes are now under recall in the United States after Conair LLC expanded an earlier action first announced in July 2026. The latest expansion adds about 1,905,805 brushes to the 1,719,995 units recalled previously, bringing the total to 3,625,800 grill cleaning brushes sold nationwide since 2009.

If you own a metal wire bristle grill brush bearing the Cuisinart name, you should check it against this recall immediately. Conair, the importer behind the Cuisinart brand, says small wire bristles can break off the brushes during use and stick to grill grates or food, creating a serious ingestion hazard for anyone who eats off the grill afterward.

What Products Are Being Recalled?

The recall covers Cuisinart metal wire bristle grill brushes with black plastic, stainless steel, or wood handles. Models previously recalled include CCB-100, CCB-4125, CCB-5014, CCB-6450, CCB-8012, CCB-4114, CCB-W2, and CSBS-777. The newly added models in this expansion are CGWM-024, CGWM-059, FCB-501, CGS-W18, CCB-134, CGWM-061, CB-395, CCB-3001, CGWM-077, CGWM-058, CCB-012/021, CGWM-060, and FBH-51.

Conair says that beyond these specific model numbers, all Cuisinart wire bristle grill brushes sold individually or as part of a set before 2020 are included in the recall. The word ‘Cuisinart’ is stamped on the handle of most affected models, though two models, FCB-501 and CCB-395, are not stamped. Some recalled brushes were also bundled inside larger sets, including the Premium Grill 10 Piece set, the 13 Piece Wooden Handle Grill Tool Set, the 14 Piece Deluxe Stainless Steel Grill Set, and the 20 Piece Deluxe Grill Set.

The brushes were sold at Walmart, Burlington, TJ Maxx, and Ross, as well as online through Amazon and Cuisinart.com, from June 2009 through March 2026, priced between $8 and $20.

Why Was This Recall Issued?

According to Conair, small metal wire bristles can detach from the brushes and remain stuck to grill grates or embedded in cooked food without being visible. If swallowed, these bristles can cause serious internal injuries, in some cases requiring surgery to remove them from the digestive tract or throat.

Conair says it is aware of at least 54 reports and reviews describing bristles detaching from the brushes, including three cases in which consumers actually swallowed metal bristles and needed medical treatment to have them removed.

Who Is Affected?

The recall applies to consumers across the United States who purchased any of the listed Cuisinart wire bristle grill brush models, or any unbranded-by-date Cuisinart wire brush sold before 2020, through the retailers and dates listed above. Given the nearly two-decade sales window and the brushes’ presence in bundled grill tool sets, many households with outdoor grills may unknowingly still have one in a garage, patio storage bin, or grill caddy.

What Should You Do?

Consumers should stop using any recalled Cuisinart wire bristle grill brush right away. Conair is asking owners to discard the brush and contact the company for a full refund, or opt for store credit at Cuisinart.com equal to the refund amount plus 20 percent.

The agency reminds consumers that federal law bars anyone from reselling a product once it has been recalled, whether the recall was ordered by the Commission or carried out voluntarily by a company working with CPSC.
