The recall, dated August 26, 2026, covers six scent varieties of the aerosol air freshener, all packaged in 300 ml pressurized metal containers and imported from India. According to the company, 10,874 units were sold across Canada between January 2026 and August 2026.

Why Was This Recall Issued?

Health Canada says the recalled spray cans do not meet the labelling requirements set out under the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, 2001, part of the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act. Proper labelling on chemical consumer products is meant to warn users about safe handling, ingredients, and potential hazards.

Without this information clearly displayed, consumers may not recognize the risks associated with the product, increasing the chance of unintentional exposure. Health Canada states that such exposure could result in serious illness or injury, and in severe cases, death.

As of August 20, 2026, the importer had received no reports of incidents or injuries linked to the product in Canada.

Because the product was distributed nationally through Walmart Canada, the recall affects consumers across the country who purchased any of the six Godrej Aer Spray scents between January and August 2026. The product is manufactured by Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. in Mumbai, India, and imported into Canada by Verka Food International Ltd., based in Surrey, British Columbia.
